Rick Gibson, a sophomore from Nederland, and Lloyd Clayton, a junior from Lake Jackson, started their journey on December 18 in El Paso. James Knapp, a sophomore from League City, drove Rick’s pickup truck full of supplies for the bicyclists. These supplies were paid for by money donated or obtained in several fundraising projects before the holidays. According to a quote from the Abilene Reporter-News, Rick stated, We feel like God has led us to bike across Texas to give us an opportunity to share the person of Jesus Christ.” He added that it was encouraging to talk to other Christians and they felt like it was encouraging for other Christians to talk to them.
