EARL ALLEN DU Week The Twelfth Annual Democracy-in-Action Week, April 3-8, was accepted by a distinguished list of speakers. Dr. Guy Newman, opened the week with an address at formal con- vocation in which Paul Cates, Lubbock, and J. Cleo Thomp- son, Dallas, received honorary doctor of law degrees. The program featured men from around the world in areas of government, education, economics, history, international re- lations, the Christian religion, and communications. Students Chair of Jntemational Affairs Dedicated Dr. Carr P. Collins, Jr., Dallas, a member of the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom Board, was a $250,000 benefactor to the college in 1965, and as a result of this, the Carr P. Collins, Jr., Chair in International Affairs was created. On April '17, 1967, at formal dedication services. Col. Russell O. Fudge, director of the Academy and assistant professor of political science, was named as first occupant ‘Junior-Senior Banquet April 21 marked the formal-attire, Junior-Senior Banquet, held at the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Doug Holtzclaw set a new school record by running 92 yards for a TD. James Harris made three remaining TD’s and Warren Studdard made the last. She is a business education major, and a member of Sigma Alpha Sigma, secretary of the Student Senate, and a 1967 cheerleader. Queen’s Court In chapel Friday, November 10, Miss Roz Ratliff was crowned Homecoming Queen by Mary Gibbs. In the middle right picture she is being congratulated by her parents. Run- ner-up was Kathy Stiles, a junior.
