We returned, eager to renew old friendships and reluctant to register, and explore new text- books. Freshmen looked greener than ever, but soon proved themselves as true Yellowjackets............... .........OCTOBER brought to our Howard Payne Scene its promise of frost and football. We yelled for our team 'till our throats were husky and our lungs ached...................the boys and coaches were great................ it's just the! to. But fun, all-school parties, and more football still reigned on our campus as OCTOBER rolled on....................... ..........Before we knew it, we saw November. Soon our long-awaited weekend was here . . . Home- coming came and many ex-students and visitors flocked to the Howard Payne Campus. Our parade and activities were the best ever .... .......We gave our Homecoming queen a standing ovation .... all of Howard Payne enjoyed the activi- ties. Scores of people acclaimed Homecoming of 1959 a howling success. .............November brought us the first holidays of the school term . . . Thanksgiving. Talks with the family, too much turkey were a welcome pause .... NOVEMBER also saw gleeful Freshmen enjoying Switch About Day .... the Friendliest students on our campus were named .... our cafeteria shone with new equipment. ...........The girls inherited the football uniforms in DECEMBER for a Powder Puff Football Game .... the mighty battle was a huge success, although many girls limped around the campus for sometime after the Offering Publicity begins .... ........Dr. Newman's birthday, an Open-House at Hodge Hall, a Faculty Talent Show, and a school-wide campaign for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering were some other important phases of our campus life dur- ing the month of DECEMBER.............. ........late DECEMBER caught us dreaming of tinsel and Christmas parties with mistletoe and holly . . . we decorated our campus and domitories .... our banquets were great. Then, we headed home, one and all . . . for a MERRY CHRISTMAS! I want it QUIET in these halls!!! WHEEEE ... careful! ...........Soon the semester was gone. Cramming for exams almost ruined JANUARY .... we saw our grades, then sighed with relief or vowed once more that the new semester would be different. Ice, snow, and cold weather .... over the land of Howard Payne....................... fcn WilTTi- ' at Yantis Hall. .......The Sweetheart Banquet in FEBRUARY was a lovely affair .... wedding bells rang for many HPC couples . . . Basketball was in full swing here at Howard Payne, and our team made us all proud. Spring arrives in MARCH .... our fancies turned . . . IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN Jlaw-ald Payne,, I960, WITHOUT . .
