Each of us strives during his years at Howard Payne, to prepare himself to realize his own particular ambition. Yet in spite of our diverse aims, we have in common sought and gained knowledge from our studies, guidance from our faculty, and Christian fellowship among ourselves. We like to think of you looking at your LASSO and recalling everything you did while at Howard Payne. We hope the book shows our pride and reflects our love for just those things. THEE OUR ALMA MATER SCIENCE BUILDING PAYNE COLLEGE ADDITION TO HOWARD PAYNE CAMPUS The John Allen Walker Memorial Library was formally opened the fall of 1952. John A. Walker, for whom the new library is named, served on the board of trustees of one million dollars to the college. The Georgian style library is numbered among the finest in the nation. It is fire proof, steam heated and air conditioned for the vides two large reference reading rooms, library staff offices and stack space. The class was present at the opening of the Walker Memorial Library. We trust the class may also see the beginning of the campaign for the new fireproof girls dormitory. And now we will all have life time pleasure in the story of our college life as it is recorded in the LASSO. I have a complete file of the LASSO through the years. At the present time, it is an active organization, its aim being to promote and develop athletics here at the college.
