More than fifty percent of the students in Howard Payne College in the army obtained commissions. Howard Payne is noted for: 1. Its Christian influence in developing character. 2. The high standard of its work. 3. Its excellent student body. A unit of the Reserve Officers Training School has been established in Howard Payne. Military training required for all male students in academy and fresh- men and sophomore years. All clothing and equipment furnished all boys, in the R.O.T.C. free of charge. Members of the R.O.T.C. in junior and senior years receive commutation of $9.00 a month. The College Department ranks as high as any in the state.
