Priucipal's Message Every school needs someone or more general projects around which to rally, to build school spirit. This Yearbook is such a project. My compliments go to the studentswhose pur- chases have made possible this publication, to the staff and their sponsors who have bome the burden of the work, and to the teachers who have given the project their co-operation. It is an achievement of which to be proud. This book will become more valuable as the years pass. lt is a means of preserving the mem- ories of this school year for enjoyment when time has taken one far from the scene. Mayfield are found the qualities of patience, untiring effort, guidance, and leadership needed for producing such an annual as the Round Up. Without his co-operation, understanding, and striving to make the Round Up meet with Howard's ideas and standards, probably our dream of an annual would have never become a reality. May the students of Howard recognize and take to their hearts his efforts to make this a better school and a better world in which to live.
