I thought you would surely include Donald Wolfe and Roy Pratt in on that deal with Bobby. A Haven't you heard? Donald is the sole owner of a restaurant, 'The Wolfe Cave,' and Roy is leader of 'Pratt's Flats,' one of the top bands of the country. His soloist is Polly Thompson, re- member her? ' Oh, noi is all I could find words to say. About this time, dinner was announced. The food was superb and Bobbie told me that she consistently follows famous recipes of Verna Harding, who is a culinary artist in that Held. The home economic classes at Howard were pay- ing off, it seemed. We returned to the den after dinner, settled ourselves into comfortable chairs and before we knew it, we were off again down memory lane. A good many of our classmates are here in show business, Bobbie said. Have you heard the 'Tinsel' program? The hit of the show is none other than Sue Cantrell, and can she ever sing? Shirley Conwell, James Wilson and joe Hopper have their own TV program out here now, and are wowing audiences with their fa- mous hillbilly songs. Who would ever have thought that quiet, demure Shirley Stubblefield would some day be a beautiful ballet dancer out here in Hollywood? Well, whatever became of Dewayne Whitf- taker? I asked. Dewayne is a professional boxer and is the proud father of twin boys. I understand De- wayne is looking forward to entering them in the Golden Glove Tournament before too many years. Did you know that Gail Holland and Nan Papuchis are acrobats now with the famous Ringling Brothers circus? According to this morn1ng's paper, the show has left Sarasota, Florida, to go on the road again. What about Bobby Beck and that nice, quiet boy, Marvin Ramsey? Marvin is a general in Uncle Sam's army now, barking orders to Bobby, who is only a megs sergeant. Of course, Bobby, who was always ambitious will eventually advance. V PfQl?3391Y k110W that Bobby Herald con- athlete and made All-American. -Jef? E515-PW '50 the epuntry carried his picture, I do believe. He's still as good looking as ever. What a man! Peggy, do you remember Leslie 'Squirrel' Sherrill? Well, he is sole owner of a large nut and bolt factory. Mary Sue Merony and Bar- bara Lane are co-editors of a famous woman's magazine, Th-e Ladyis Book, and Allen Hawkins is president of a large shipping company. What news have you of Jerry Mallard? I met jerry a year ago and learned that he now owns a chain of super markets. His partner is Mary Ruth Freeman. I'm sure you've seen the Mallard and Freeman Super Markets from coast to coast. , Paul McDaniel is an author now and the title of his most recent book is How to Live the Luxurious Life of a Dog. Bobbie, so many girls were interested in be- coming secretaries. How many chose that phase of the business world? You'1l probably be surprised to hear that only two are doing office work. Bobbie Hamilton and Geraldine Smith are private secretaries to big executives in Nashville. I also hear that wedding bells might ring for one of them and her boss real soon. How about that? Did you ever hear anything from Eugenia Wilson and Franklin Reed? Yes, I had a short note from Eugenia only last week. She is Director of Music at Carnegie Hall. Franklin Reed is a big7time wrestler. I always knew those muscles would help him some day. Oh, Peggy, I do feel I have saved the best for the last. This morning I received an invita- tion to a dinner party honoring Ray Austin and Tommy Snyder. Well, for heaven's sake, what have those two done now? Being a famous scientist, Ray has invented a device for man to travel to the moon, and Tom- my, his old buddy, tested out this invention. Frankly, Tommy hasn't returned yet, but I hope he will be back in time for the dinner. . That was about enough for one night. We had exhausted ourselves I talking and reminiscing. As the last flames in the fire flickered and died, so the names and faces of those we had remem- bered that night faded into the past. PEGGY LAVENDER
