Commanding Officer Captain Clark, who is a graduate of Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from George Washington University, and was commissioned as an Ensign in August 1943. Upon commissioning, Captain Clark served his first two years in the Amphibious Force in the European Theater and participated in the Normandy' Invasion in .Tune 1944. After serving aboard USS LITTLE ROCK KCL-921, Captain Clark entered the Submarine Service in 1949 and has served aboard USS CAIMAN KSSI-3231, USS CUSK fSS3481 as Commanding Officer, and Commanded Submarine Division SIXTY-THREE., Captain Clark has had duty with the following staffs and commands: Phillipine Sea Frontier, Bureau of Naval Personnel, Naval Aide at the White House, Naval Ordnance Test Station China Lake, Carrier Division SIXTEEN, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He attended Gen- eral Line School, The Armed Forces Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces., Captain Clark is married to the former Caro-l Muth of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania., The Clarks have two children, Richard M.. .Ira and Lynda Carol.. Clark, Jr. attended the U. S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Mary- land, where he received the Bachelor of Sci- ence Degree and his naval commission in 1948. Commander Clark attended the U. S. Naval Submarine School in 1950 and three years later attended the Naval School of Naval Justice. Commander Clark has seen duty aboard USS ATLANTA KCL-1041 of the Pacific Fleet, and commissioned the USS SALEM QCA-1391 of the Atlantic Fleet. He also had duty on four submarines, USS TOBSK fSS423J, USS ATULE' fSS403J, the USS ANGLER lSS24OJ, where he served as Executive Officer, and USS SABLEFISH fSS3031, where he was Commanding Officer. He was Assistant Plans Officer, U. S. Submarine Base, New London from 1956 to 1958. As BuShips Project Of- ficer, Commander Clark worked in the Bell Telephone Laboratories, Whippany, New Jer- seyfrom 1.960 to 1962. Before coming to GILMOBE he was Academic Director, U. S. Naval Submarine School, New London from 1964 to 1966. Commander Clark is married to the former Katherine McCarthy of Winthrop, Mass..
