My stomach tells me that I'd better be headmg for the dlner it's awfully crowded What's all the chatter about? Why it's Wilma Dewey and Minnie Smith the Pres1dent and Vice President of the Do Drop Inn Diners Assoc1at1on We're really privileged to have them with us on th1s Derby Speclal That certa1nly was del1c1ous Clucken F1let Mlgon It's a new Heinz Product wh1ch that famous Hemz Pres1dent Morey Butler produces We think that Mr Butler w1ll revolutionize the world of canned goods with his new ideas I see at the next table Bob Martin who has just been summoned to Cuba to be present at the arrival of the United States President Beeman known as ' Ballet Beeman in his school days Pres Beeman is having a three weeks rest at the Mart1n's ' Snooz Inn ' resort, one of this world Wlde chain I guess l'll be ambling to the Club Car Well, r1ght here beh1nd the best selling cigar of today IS 1ts manufacturer ln person, lt's Leo Shupe W1th h1S famed 'Grant Grilla clgar Over in that big easy chaxr IS the boxxng ace Harry Cook who K0'd Joe Lewis in the flrst round That's hlstory already Slttlllg next to him IS h1s agent and manager Lawrence Crispxn who has really pulled in the green backs on this job And here comes Mr Jonathan Edgar, enroute to the races, to have a chat w1th his former schoolmates Cook and Crxspm Mr Edgar has made an astomshing discovery with h1s new ra1l sw1tch wh1ch IS operated by atom1c energy, It's gettmg late and I'd better be gettmg back to my seat I guess I'll stop off m the power room a few mlnutes Here at a large dressing table is the beautiful screen star, Pam Knight, the former Betty Korcal, and with her is her loyal companion, Mar1lyn Cook Miss Cook proved her loyalty by savmg Miss Korcal from drowning at N1agara Falls when she acci dently slipped while posing for her latest publ1city pictures just commg m IS Lylah Belle Johnson and Doreen Griffes those famous dress designers who have just manufactured a steel dress which will neither scratch, melt, nor peel Th1s ere It's a beaut1ful day for the races The horses are commg out on the track With my b1noculars I can see the 'Man of Peace rldden by that snappy jocky, Jack Kent Coming up bes1de h1m is 'Sea Cracker that beauty owned by the prominent Mrs Paul Kellogg, the former Louise Fredricks, who IS known for her famous Standard Stables in Virgmia In the box at my r1ght IS Mrs Tony Wedal the former, Mar11yn Crxttenden and her three sons Leroy, Eddle, and Doug All eyes are focused on the greens just below where the Wedal Rhythm Masters are g1vmg out with the jazz 1nclud1ng a drum solo by Wedal the mas ter h1mself W1th the band IS that petite songstress Marjory Wright Prior to the selection they're playing now she sang Star Dust Why, I'd recogn1ze that vo1ce anywherel It's that famous announcer Calvin Beach He' g1ViI1g us the l1ne up and the b1g race is about to begm They're offl It was a hard race and the winner IS Two Timer owned by that world known sc1ent1st Prof Fred Jennings He just drove up in his 1963 custom made Chev rolet They say thxs veh1cle w1ll go down in history as the 8th wonder of the world Mr Beach IS makmg the announcement that Prof Jennings was delayed because of an atomic conference where he was expla1ning how the mjection of 3SD6Cif16d amount of the OH rad1cal in the 3tOmlC bomb will double the explos1ve power of this bomb Prof Iennmgs IS wearing a big smile as the cup IS awarded h1m by Forrest Hodell the promoter of the Derby Over 1n the grandstand IS Mlss Beatr1ce Bauman who has taken over the Sister Kenny Foundation to wh1ch the proceeds of the next race w1ll be given Now for a sandwich, I see l'm not the only one who had the same idea Here's the well known surgeon Dr Peck accompanied by h1s wife, the former Ianet Medler and thelr children Dr Peck has gained world fame through his accompl1shment of an appendectomy with out an 1ncis1on ' KC I . . . ,. . . . . . lllS'l'0ltl year, w1th Bill Spence as first mate, Betty Korcal and Marilyn Paulen as aides Our maiden voyage took us through the class play 'Spring Green ' starring our own Barrymore, Freddy Jennings The next voyage took us to the Clu-lstmas Dance, it was a toss up as to whether we were going to make thxs the best or wa1t unt11 sprxng and make the prom the featured social event r next concern was the yearbook, Howcihi, wluch was edited by Wava Denton, and the publ1cat1on of wluch brought a gleam mto the eyes of many Sk1pper Hanson next set our course for our fmal Family Dinner Th1S event brought joy mto the hearts of all those who, hearing Horace Greeley, still refuse to go West, but wanted for us to bring any smgle group of people Next came our final shakedown cruise, the Sen1or Carnival, a very successful venture All of these short cruises were for the purpose of fmancmg our fmal Senior Crulse We have just returned from Detroit, Mackinac Island and other points This final crulse was a huge success, as you can see by the bags under our eyes Upon returning from our Cruise we recuperated partially with the Junior Semor Banquet Iumors at this time Thank you Our class had dwindled down to tlurty three members Th1s year we gained three new members Lylah Belle johnson, Paul Beemen and Loulse Frederlcks Although some people may th1nk that we were concerned only w1th mak1ng money we would like to say now that our Class has always contributed freely to the March of Dimes Red Cross US O and other charitable orgamzatxons of Village, State, and Country Our Class has always been a leader in both academ1c and extra curricular activities Probably our most outstandmg characteristic is our complete absence of vanity in any form This is the completion of our history as hlgh school students and the beginning of our h1story as individual men and women. lim Peck FIR T GRADE Flrst Row: I. Here too, IS M1ss JoAnn Meier prominent secretary to Pres Beeman who is 1n his third term Miss Meler plans to retire It certainly is nxce to be able to freshen up a b1t before dirmer in a good hotel I'm staying at Knox's Bulldog Inn Mr and Mrs Gerald Knox are both formerly of Howard City, Michigan Mrs Knox, known to her old fr1ends as Maxlne Hanson, IS very proud of her five l1ttle Knoxes ', as an old school mate would put it It's rumored that the Knoxes plan to sell out to Mr and Mrs Jack Durrand of Revel Stoke, Canada Mrs Durrand, the former Gretchen Gaffleld, popular vocalist of screen and stage M1ss Lee Day, as she was called in her last career, has lately been too occupled w1th her httle paratroopers to make tzme for her pubhc It IS rumored that the Durrands may buy 1n partnershxp with the prom1nent electrical englneer, Mr and Mrs John Scott and fanuly who are reslding now 1n Trhudad, Mr Scott's home I ve heard the Scotts are very much exc1ted about the1r return to the Umted States Mr Scott, wants to see Notre Dame where he spent h1s college l1fe, and Mrs Scott, the for mer Sh1rley Motyer, rs longing for those famlhar v1cm1t1es north and south east of Howard City Speaking of Howard C1ty reminds me of that prominent young man Russell johnson who got hrs start there 1n the Roxy Theater Now Mr johnson is marrxed and has several little Russes plus a huge Cham of Theaters throughout the Unlted States, known as the Russes' Roxys It's true that he's acqulred his millions but bel1eve me he's really worked and worked hard I read 1n the evening paper that because of a ragmg fever 1n the Panama which has struck Bobby, Mr and Mrs Bud Rogers' yotmgest son xt was impossible for them to attend the races Mrs Rogers, the former Jeanne Paulen wxshed very much to get to Kentucky to have a reumon w1th her dear cousin Mrs Robert Zoller better known as Marilyn Paulen who now re s1des 1n San Francxsco Mr and Mrs Zoller have made a model home whxch has every appli ance controlled by radar This will be deflmtely the house of tomorrow Not only is lt the house of tomorrow but, as an old professor of Amer1can Gov't would say, lt w1ll soon be a nossessxon of each every day common garden varlety Amer1can, and at an amazing low cost Ive had a hard day and lost my money and now l'l1 settle for a good dinner and a good mght s sleep Goodmght from your all Star reporter unt1l tomorrow when again meet the people ANNUAL 'PAFF Seated- Wava Denton, M1ss Pendleton, Shxrley Motyer, B111 Spence, Marjory Wr1ght, JoAnn Meier, M1nn1e Sm1th.
