jl nmzmnrfl May tne theme, THE OPEN BOOK,gu1de THIS ENTERPRISE which is undertaken to help YOUTH see the meaning and importance of real FRIENDSHIP The world ln its present conflict must never lose sight of the fact that when men are frierds, justice is unnecessary but when men are Just, friendship is still a boon In the 'giving' of our FRIENDSHIP, we must realize that God does not need this gift, but that it is 'we' who need God's gift of friendship before we can exper ience our ne1ghbor's friendship Our friendship is guided by our character, and we must remember that character is similar to the aiming of a rifle 'it cannot shoot higher than it is aimed ' Upon you, the YOUTH of today, rests the successful aim of the future of all mankind Our true friendships are shortcuts which aid us as individuals to help us live our dedicated career True friendship involves gations, one will find that the detour is rougher than the highway of plain duty Let us all remember that our present day conflicts are man made, and that 'we' all have a unique part in making them better or worse Betterment will not come from the improvement of only a few, but must involve all of us May our YOUTH of today not follow the adage of 'Let Joe Do It', for that is what 'Joe' has been doing, to us as adults Peace and friendship must go hand in hand We will never obtain the one without the other Our fervent prayer is but the repetition of the first wishes for it 'Peace on Parth to All Men of Good Will Peace and good will, like the open book, reflect the genuineness of their worth Superintendent R J Novak the necessity of AID TO OTHHRS.
