This development is reflected in ,new machinery, new methods, V ew processes, and the increased desire of the public fo r go od workmanship. Because of this, much effort is put forth to provide experiences which will enable students to have sound knowledge of the basic operations and jobs for which they aspire. SAO? The upholstery program is divided into two sections. The general course offers training in the fundamental principles of the trade, and prepares students for apprenticeship training. The senior course offers advanced training in specific principles and skills of upholstery. This is a more specialized course which prepares students for business operations. i s li . l .gnclurifriaf .Sawing g Power sewing machine operation teaches students how to operate high speed powered sewing machines of the garment industry. In the learning process, students are taught to make garments for themselves, their families, and friends. The garments made range from simple aprons to suits, coats, and evening gowns. Students, upon graduation, are able able to find and keep jobs in the needle trade industry. r aiu fing ann! lecora fin? Training in the paint shop prepares students in a trade that has many features. As long as there are homes, ,business offices, institutional buildings and other structures, there will be a need for decorators and painters. In the shop, students are trained in the general principles of decorating which include knowledge of drapes, furniture coverings, etc. There is further training in brush and spray painting, graining, paperhanging, and furniture finishing. With their training, students have a wide field of choices which enable them to earn a good living.

jaikring The tailoring and design course is geared to train students to meet the needs of industry. It consists of altering, repairing, pressing, and making menis and W0men's garments. The cou-rse is planned to develop acceptable work habits, attitudes, and skills necessary for successful employment in the clothing industry, retail stores, valet services, or dry cleaning establishments. Care we v --- --. Child Care is offered to young girls who display a warm interest in children, who show evidence of patience in the guidance and development of children, and who are able to profit from constructive criticism and work under supervision. This training prepares students to work in nurseries, child care centers, childrenis hospitals, pediatric wards, etc. Finally, it prepares girls for constructive parenthood.
