Class Hlstory A big event took place on September 3 1946 The class of 58 entered the first grade A shy bashful group of children numbering four boys and seven g1rls Of course, there were many more of us to start wlth but there are only seventeen of us who pulled through those long, hard, but fun fxlled years Those present tor that fxrst day were Ralph Bauer, Linda Pltsenbarger, Georgene Galer, Henry Iones, Alrce W1se, Larry Holeton, Helen Deeter, Iulla Davis, Ruth Ann Klehl Donn Calloway, and Cora Mae Huston School had no more than gotten a good start when Wmston Hulme came tralllng 1n As we progressed through the years we were separated many txmes, for lt was not uncommon to s1t 1n a d1v1ded class In the fourth grade we plcked up Iudlth Wooddell, after that came Dale Noffslnger ln the fifth and Sam Stephenson rn the slxth It was only a year later that 11m Bashore graced us w1th hrs presence We have come a long way since the seventh grade, thus almost g1vxng up the 1dea of addmg to our class row But 1n the eleventh grade Harold Langston made hrs appearance In the year of 55 we reached htgh school the frrst thlng we dxd was elect our class offlcers Pres1dent Wlnston Hulme Vice Presldent, Georgene Galer Secretary Ruth Ann Klehl and Nancy Jacobson as treasurer W enloyed a party at the end of the year at Fountam Park, under the supervlslon of Russel Wagner Ruth Ann Krehl and Wmston Hulme were our representatlves o the Iumor Semor Banquet M1ss Platfoot was our supervxsor of our Sophomore year through her kmdness, and long lastmg patlence we at last elected 11m Bashore as presldent, Randall Frasure v1ce presxdent, Ruth Ann Klehl secretary, and Cora Mae Huston as treasurer Along wxth Mxss Platfoot and Mlss Calderwood we took a hayr1de to the Bradford Pumpk1n Show Then at Chrlstmas we had a party ln the school aud1tor1um Cora Mae Huston and Ixm Bashore were the honored guests at the Ir Sr Banquet As we grew older and mastered grade by grade our act1v1t1es changed for we were now old enough to present a Iunror play, wh1ch we dld Out on a Llmb on November 7, under the drrectlon of Mrs Holl Donn Calloway lead us as class pres1dent, Ilm Bashore as v1ce presldent, Cora Mae Huston secretary, and Georgene Galer was treasurer We were also the f1rst Iumor class to recetve graduatlon r1ngs Thxs 1S 1t, our last year at Houston We started the year off rlght by electlng Dale Noffslnger as pres1dent Donn Calloway, v1ce presldent, Ruth Ann Klehl, secretary, and Larry Holeton as treasurer The entlre class took an act1ve part 1n helpmg get our annual publ1shed Our class has always been actlve ln all the dlfferent sports wh1ch were offered, 1nclud1ng cheerleadlng ln the sprmg we gave our fmal play Teen Tlme The Iunlors came through wlth the Iunlor Semor Banquet, wh1ch was a smashlng success Our Baccalaureate program was held on May 18 1958 followed by Commencement servlces on May 21 1958 We would llke to thank all our teachers , who w1thout the1r help we would never have been able to reach thls momentous occaslon These four walls have meant more to us than we ever reahzed now that our departure lS growing near Allce W1se, Henry Iones, Iulla Davls Helen Deeter Class Poem Henry a future racer would make But now h1s llcense IS at stake Then comes our frxend Ruth Ann Kmehl Who drlves a hubcap and thlnks she s a wheel Ralph lS a boy we can t overlook Because of hrm w1th hrs mad comlc book Iwow comes a classmate, Iudy Wooddell Her mlddle name she refuses to tell Next we come to our good friend Donn, Of whom a freshman g1rl he IS fond Iulla Davls lS always neat, But she ras one trouble two left feet Dale, ofthe school w1ll soon be free Then the teachers w1ll slng w1th glee Helen Deeter chews gum the best We doubt 1f she ever gives her Jaw a rest Larry Holeton has always made a lot of no1se But he s sure to go far wlth h1s klnd of votce Georgene a classmate and good frrend lndeed For a perfect secretary she answers the need Wlnston Hulme has a fancy sports car Now wlth the g1rls he goes far Next comes L1nda a teacher she plans to be Vvhen she handles k1ds l1ke us 15 what we want t seel 11m Bashore , a bachelor he plans to be But a certarn young g1rl thlnks differently Harold s sweet slxteen and never been klssed, Because the car h1t a bump and Harry m1ssed Cora Huston lS mcknamed Sandy A name more su1table would be Candy Sam IS the largest ln our class, But he's got a way wlth a certaln lass Alxce Wlse lS golng off to college, Bet she'll come home wlth more than knowledge' Ralph Bauer and Harold Langston A ur 11 1 I 1 1 - 1 , 0 . , . nu 11 1 - - - 1 - 1 - 1 I I 1 - 9 . . , . -l . 1 1 . , . ,. . ,, . , - 1 . . . . . . ,, . ,, . 1 1 - ----- I a 1 1 . - 1 1 r 1 v 1 1 ' . 1 1 1 , . , . - , 1 1 , . , 1 1 - 1 - O . 1 1 r - ' 1
