Class Ibstory In the year of 1945 two very tmportant events happened We dropped the A Bomb on japan and the teachers at Houston School thought one had dropped nearby when group of nolsy f1rst graders entered the school The 14 who have been together for these twelve years are Vera Jess Ramona Lawrence Ruth Foster Darrel Pence Mar11yn Thompson Iudy Smlth Bob Short 11m Wlck Kaye Wlck Ralph Rltter Dan Moyer Allce Mlchael Sharon Weatherhead and Allce Parks On our long and we can t say uneventful march to hlgh school we were Jomed by the followlng Lewls Phy111a1er Marllyn Llette Peg Havenar Bob Delaet Bob W1ck Mary Snowden Glenn Foster Eddle Cotterman John and Gale Wolfe and August Hosack Flnally after what seems centurles we reached oh those mag1c words HIGH SCHOOL In our freshman year under the leadershlp of Mr Wagner we elected the followlng offlcers Presldent Darrel Pence v1ce presldent Iudy Smlth secretary Kaye Wlck and treasurer Sharon Weatherhead Bob Short and Yvonne Slmmons were the honored guests at the Iuntor Senlor Banquet We enjoyed two class partles one at Fountaln Park and one at the home of Darrel Pence In our sophomore year we elected the followrng offlcers Pres1dent Darrel Pence v1ce presldent Dan Moyer secretary Perry Snowden and treasurer Allce Mlchael We emoyed a hayrlde to the Bradford Pumpkln Show and were chaperoned by Mlss Platfoot We also sold penclls and shlrts to boost our treasury Iudy Smlth and Darrel Pence were The h1ghl1ght of our Jumor year was our class play It s A Great L1fe under the d1rect1on of Mr Smyer We elected the followlng offlcers Presldent Darrel Pence vice pres1dent Ralph Rltter secretary Allce Mlchael and treasurer Mar11yn Llette honored the senxors wlth a banquet ln the sprrng We sold candy and 1ce cream at the basketball games to lncrease our treasury Agaln we enjoyed a hayrlde to the Bradford Pumpkln Show We have at last reached the cllmax of our sen1or year Under the d1rect1on of Mr Smyer we elected the followlng off1cers Pres1dent Edd1e Cotterman v1ce presldent Darrel Pence secretary Bob Wlck and treasurer Dan Moyer Our class had always been well represented ln varlous school act1v1t1es such as Band basketball baseball track F F A F T A cheerleadlng majorettes scholarshlp teams clubs etc In May the Juruors honored us wlth a banquet Our Baccalaureate Serv1ces were held on Sunday even mg May 19 1957 followed by Commencement Serv1ces on evemng May 1957 We the class of 57 are a trlfle reluctant about leavlng Houston School but we know that each must go h1s own way from now on and we reallze the truth 1n the words of our motto In ourselves our future lles Ramona Lawrence Darrel Pence Iudy Smlth . f' I ' ' , a Z I I I I ' I ' I I l I I I I ' I I 1 I I ' , . . .
