emot efau -ffutoty ln September, 1944, eleven fnghtened lnttle rascals stumbled unto the fnrst grade room at Houston School to begun o twelve year race to the fumsh lrne The eleven were Peg Johns, Margle Holeton Arlene Wolaver, Helen Roeth Prrsculla ple Kenny Pence, Gale Wick Emma Lou Jones, Joyce Booher Bull Wnck, and Bull Flmn Bull VX :ck dropped out of the race after the flrst year only to reroln us agam nn the slxth grade Sue Mlchael was not at Houston to start the race but lomed the class an the second grade Susie Vent and Darrel Cool entered as fourth graders, and Aluce Games and Bull Snrder as flfth graders Tom Vent and Bull Wooddell entered at the half way ponnt Whale preparing for the home stretch Jnm Fosmght and Bull Stephenson came In as eughfh graders As we entered hugh school with Mr Fambrough as our advisor we were happy to have Eula Jane Snowden and Darlene Motter loun our happy group That year our class enloyed a wlener roast at the home of Barbara Smuth and an the sprung another party at Fountam Park Phyllls Stephenson and Kenny Pence were chosen to represent our class at the Junnor Sensor Banquet Our class officers were Roy Baucom, presudent, Phyllus Stephenson, vlce presldent, Barbara Smnth, secretary and Joyce Booher treasurer In our sophomore year, Mass Platfoot had the rob of counselung our group We were relolned by Peg Johns who had spent her freshman year at Mount Vernon Academy The IUDIOTS mvlted Sue Michael and Gale Wnck to their banquet Our class had a wlener roast and treasure hunt at the home of Barbara Smnth That year our class sold basketball schedule penculs to add a luttle cash to the class exchequer Kenny Pence our class presndent, was ably asslsted by Ruth Stephenson vlce president, Peg Johns, secretary, and Betty Sherman, treasurer One of the hughlaghts of our lumor year was our class play Wonder Boy whuch was a np-foarnng the basketball games ln Aprnl, we honored the sensors wrth a banquet and dance Our unformal sprung get together was a wlener roast at Tawawa Park near Sldney We were fortunate to have the followlng class offlcers Kenny Pence presrdent Bull Flmn, vlce presadent Barbara Smnth secretary and Prlscllla Apple, treasurer Durnng our semor year Mr Huston, our advasor, guided us on to the fmrsh lme Marretta Jones loaned us for that fmal trek We enloyed our year of actnvutues choosung our class rmgs, nnvntatuons motto,flower, colors, publushmg our annual, attending basketball games and other actsvutles gettlng measured for caps and gowrs, having our puctures taken, and getting to spend a short tume enloylng the new addltnon to our bunldlng ln March under the dlrectson of Mr Smyer we produced our class play Deadly Ernest' ln Aprrl, we were the honored guests at the Junuor Sensor banquet and dance Our semor class offucers were Tom Vent, presndent Bull Wooddell, vuce presldent Prlscnlla Apple, secretary and Helen Roeth, treasurer We have been proud that many of our members have been represented and taken active parts nn such actavltses as basketball, baseball, track, band F F A , chorus, cheerleaders, and scholarship teams We are a trlfle sad when we thunk of leavung Houston School, but we hope we can use the know ledge we have gamed when we go Out of school lnfe, Into lnfe s school Emma Lou Jones Bull Flmn 18 . o . . . . i : .
