It has an area of a little over 45 square miles. sgpav 6 ffi is It ranks among the four largest county school districts in enrollment. 5 In 1928, the Houston School was granted a High School Charter by the R State Department of Education. Inl928, a charter for a First Grade High School 5 was granted, which high scholatic rank has been maintained to date. Due to the NS Q well trained and efficient instructors, all of whom have either Bachelor or ig gk I Q X3 Master's Degrees, the High School has received due credit and recognition at g , X ga different times by the State Department of Education. Even though the High School building is quite m 5 S -, Q few years old, it compares with the best in other counties. E Q The school grounds are among the finest and most beautiful high school 5 gs grounds in the state. In fact, few college grounds have greater possibilities X i s is for beautification, general health, recreational, and athletic activities. The sys Q ge S contour of the grounds makes a natural amphitheater with a running track and , i s S baseball field in the center. Ample playgrounds for the elementary grades are X Q v 5 s I near this athletic field. The further possibilities of Houston Schools seem most promising. Due to the large area of dn school district and an increase in the school enrollment it will be very necessary to add additional school facilities in the near fut: SSS ? ure.
