Four teachers were employed and 42 pupils were enrolled. This year we have seven high school teachers and 80 pupils in the high school. Members of the Board of Education when the new building was built were: Wm. Ginn, Paul Heins, F. L. Gillespie, Arthur Thompson, and Earl Helman. In 1939 and 1940, a new addition was added to the east side of the high school building. This addition was to be used for music and farm shop. . In August 1951, the Houston School was granted a Smith Hughes Vocational Agricultural Department, and G. V. Donnel was employed as teacher. On May 25, 1928, and June 26, 1956, our school purchased more land for the campus, We now have a total of 15 acres and one of-the most beautiful school grounds in the state. I The Houston High School has graduated 255 pupils, a total of 140 girls and 115 boys. The largest graduating class was in 1940, with 12 girls and 12 boys. In 1929, the graduation class was composed of 6 students. There are 14 pupils graduating from Houston High School this year. From these facts it can be seen that the growth and development of the Houston High School has been truly remarkable. --Florence Ginn -2- 455 , I 552555: mi' -, f'- v dwgyww 6 T3 I ' .I fgzgztzspzgz . .
