K, - ' Lui 34,33 4-L a 'Q ,,, cz Toliem The Spanish Club, La Tolteca, was reorganized this year under the di- rection of Mr. Mercado, and the following officers were elected: Henry Studney, President, Margaret Scott, Vice President' Blanche Upchurch Treasurerg and August Spain, Secretars Owing to the double sessions and lack of a room in which to meet, onls two short general meetings were held All matters were arranged bv the officers meeting w1th Mr Mercado A large number of the club members ordered new club pins made bv 1 Mexican ieweler The design of the pm was changed, the crown of the hat being heightened to give 1 better impression of the ty pical Mexican sombrero Among the social functions of the club were a Spanish supper and a moon light picnic at VS oodland Park both of whlch were great successes The supper was given at the Heights Club House, and the guests were entertained bs Span ish singing and dancing while girls in Spanish costumes served them with chili coffee, and tamales especialls prepared bs a Mexican woman La Paloma, the beloved song of the Mexicans, was sung bx a quartette of girls, Spanish students, followed bs several Spanish dances rendered in costume bx Fleanor Gammel and Robert Bedel and a Spanish song sung bs Senornta Terecita, a Spanish dancer re cently arrlved from Central America The floor was then cleared, and music for dancing was furnished by the orchestra The money for the two pages in the Annual and the social events was raised almost entirely through the tireless efforts of our Treasurer, Blanche I pchurch in collecting dues 9 9 ' . v A c .
