HEIGHTS 1 EAGLE LAKE 0 As the Heights VlS1t6d Eagle Lake 1n the memoxable football season of 21 Eagle Lake 1n turn y1s1ted us 1n the X831 77 It w as the one and only game played on the H91ghtS gI'1d11OIl On that day our men TQCCIX ed the1r blankets and they went upon the field ln all the glory of the Maroon and Wh1te' Just as the game w as reaching the pitch of h1ghest excitement H9lghtS haylng scored 3 by Parma lees deadly toe and Eagle Lake scored 0 Eagle Lake forfelted the game Thus it ended 1 to 0 Had It not been for the fo1fe1t It would haye prox ed one of the most mterestlng games of the season HEICHTS 0 BEAUMONT 10 He1ghts ioulneyed to Beaumont twenty two strong full of con Iidence and rec IX ed one of the cleanest drubblngs she ey 91 got We expected to come back wlnners by at least 21 polnts The old adag held good for a team who IS over confident and we lost 10 to 0 The machme l1ke operatlon of which our team boasted was not there Ex ery man played an excellent 1nd1v1dual game Except for a 30 yard run through th l1ne by Parmalee our star quartel back the Maroon and Whlte had no long galns Our regular left halfback Hlnes was compelled to leaye the game shortly after lt had begun due to a bad knee Abercromble durmg the third quarter recelyed the ball on the klck off and by tw1st1ng and sldestepplng returned the ball 35 wonderful game on the defense and ran some excellent mterference Stampp and Prather also play ed a stellar game our llttle end making many dlfflcult tackles We haye no alibi for when fx team like the He1ghts gets over confident she deserves a beatlng and takes her medlclne Wlthout a word HEIGHTS 41 LIVINGSTON 0 By a score ot 41 to 0 our brave football warr1ors crushed to defeat the Livingston High School eleven Saturday mornlng at Rlce Field which were unable to suppress the onrushes of our heayv gr1dders who time aftel t1me went down the field for a touchdown The playlng by botl' teams was ragged and fumbles were numerous throughout the entire game The Llyingston grlddels put up a good fight but the hard charges of our players proy ed to be too much for them Coogler left halfback proved to be the star backfield man fol Llylngston He broke through the He1ghts line and around the1r end fo1 many yards and the H61ghtS men had to be alert 1n order to stop h1m Many forward passes were also trled by the y1s1tors but they w ere all unsucc ssful Abercromble dlsplay ed h1s wonderful broken field runmng and was responsible for two touchdowns Taklng the place of Hines w ho was lniured he prow ed to ey ery one that his ablllty to plav football was great Creen and Hines also show ed excellent form being responsible for sex eral touchdowns . , ' fy. - Y , 1. s , , , H v u t --. 1 . . HEIGHTS 3a EL CAMPO 0 Our supelb football squad defeated the llghter El Campo eley en ln the first game of the season at Rice Instltute field by the score of 30 to 0 The backfieldmen ga1ned conslstently through the El Campo l1ne Two of the fiye touchdowns were made after TGCONQTICS from blocked kicks 'l wo of the rem unmg three touchdowns were made by Green Heights fullback Hmes was lesponslble for the fifth score Shown Ilelghts 220 pound tackle and captaln klckd goal each of the fiye tlmes As the first one of the seison the game was counted '1 blg success HEIGHTS bl IIUMBLE 0 W1thOUt ha mg the ball adyanced 1n the1r territory once our husky team defeated Humble Hlgh by the score of 61 to 0 The gen eral team play of the eleven featured Only once durlng the entlre game d1d our team have to kick Hines and Green featured m the backneld wh1l Parmalee showed excellent generalshlp at quarter back On the line Wlmberley and Shown played best Only once during the game d1d Humble make a first down on us Th1s occurred on a fumble The feature run of the game was a 65 yard run by Stampp Hines tore off a 45 yard run both runs belng made on a forward pass and both resultlng 1n a touchdown Captaln Shown kicked sex en goals for touchdowns out of seven attempts HEIGHTS 9 PORT ARTHUR 3 After a defeat at the hands of Beaumont our team 1ourney ed to Port Arthur Wllh blood in their eyes determlned never to exper1ence defeat again Mr J1m Da1n made his appearance as head coach of our team and from iust a few days practlce 1IlStlg2lt6d a system whlch was superior to that of the opposmg team The game was hard fought throughout 1tb61I1g any body s game unt1l the final whlstle blew Parmalee s deadly toe proyed again its accuracy by booting a perfect 30 yard field goal across the bars Green was responslble for the lone touchdown of the game also the last of the scoring Hines played 1 wonderful defenslye game maklng the ma1or1tV of the tackles also play 1ng a bang up defensxye g xme maklng first dow ns repeatedly w hen called upon for a galn The playmg of the entlre squad was the fcatule w 1th playmg of this kind our squad found 1ts champlonshlp form and could not hfue been beaten by any one I ' T .
