On this page are the people the high school student body comes In contact, and more often, in conflict with every school day. Our beloved principal Mr. Szewczyk is located at bottom left. Next to him is the assistant principal Mr. Zegunis. Above Mr. Szewczyk are the secretaries, Mrs. Cornell and Mrs. Bedell. To the right of the high school secre- taries are the Board Office secretaries, Mrs. Bow- man, Mrs. Goodsell, Mr. Hanneman, and Mrs. Dei- trich.

Not many people may recognize these faces, or even realize the important jobs they have. The bottom picture is of the school board. These fine people make all the great and powerful decisions in the school system. The members of the school board, clockwise, are; Larry Mill- er, Ron Wiggins, Jan Manley, John Walkley (supt.), El- don Outcher, Rene Crombez, Earl Harrison, Pat Deitrich (supt. sec.), and Norm Pike. Upper left is the superinten- dent, Mr. Walkley. His job isto call off school. He doesn't do that job often. Below Is Mr. Fockler, the assistant superintendent. He handles the school's money. His job is fun. 10

Six of Houghton Lake's teachers are featured on the next two pages. Above left is Mr. Mainprize, a member of the English department. He has been teaching in the Houghton Lake school system for fifteen years, and is a published author of poems and books on education. Mrs. Sheeler, above right, is a teacher in the math department. She has taught at Houghton Lake for three years, and will be com- pleting her masters degree this summer. Below right is Mr. Rigling, the metal shop teacher. He has been teaching at Houghton Lake for fifteen years, and was once the ski coach. 12
