The Superintendent The time has come when, after thirteen : years of school, the Seniors of 1965 have reached a milestone. This milestone is not the same one reached twenty-five years ago. This graduation milestone has re- duced to no more than a ripple. It now is just a slight jolt as a reminder that, for you, there are many more years of edu- cation to come. In fact, it is now be- lieved you will have to re-educate your- self three times during your lifetime. Your future is extremely interesting. Some of the things you will witness and be a part of were considered miracles twenty-five years ago. 1965 Seniors, may I offer you my congratulations, and wish you many, many successes, Donald P. Meyer, Superintendent, The Meyers L. to R.--Dan, Mrs. Meyer, Judy, Karen, Sarah, Mr. Meyer, Eric and Jeanie. The Saxtons | L. to R.--Mr. and Mrs. Saxton, Steven and Brad.

Picture Courtesy Kenney Studio Underclassmen Advertising Foreword This year was basically the same as any high school year; we studied, had fun, made new friends, experienced sad moments of trial and error. Some changes both in staff and school appearance were made. There were games and dances; voices were hoarse from team rooting and singing. There were brief moments of glory for some of us in sports, scholastic achievement, musical and dramatic productions. All shared the hopeless reality of examinations and deadlines, the semester grades, the noontime cafeteria rush. These impressions are only a few that were packed into this full year. Credit for the production of this book goes to the hard working BOBCAT STAFF and to our professional] photographer, Mr. Arthur Kenney. The Staff, how- ever, has furnished only the outlines of the story that we find when we turn these pages filled with warm smiles of friendship and many happy rec- ollections. The rest is up to the individual. Under- classmen who return to HLHS in the fall will continue to keep up the high standards of the school and strive for improvement. Graduates will go their separate ways using the knowledge they have gained here to reach their successes, It is not today that you will appreciate the BOBCAT Tomorrow, when it is not so easy to think back on 1965, we will treasure the memories this book has stored for us. The following statement will always hold true: Tis pleasant, sure, to see one's name in print.

NE ee and Principal Speak Time waits on no one. It seems like only yesterday the 1964 Bobcat put in its appearance. Yet here it is one year later and the 1965 yearbook is being distributed as the 1964-65 school year draws rapidly to a close. To be sure time will affect a change and Houghton Lake High School will en- deavor to keep abreast of the changing educational scene. New educational plans will be formulated and carried out, cur- riculum changes will undoubtedly take place, new buildings and new facilities will be added as the need arises, and new faces will replace the familiar ones but nothing will change the content of your '65 Bobcat. May the '65 Bobcat forever serve as a memento of the 1964-65 school year, and here's hoping that school year has been as enjoyable to each of you as it has for anes In closing, I would like to congratulate Mr. Donald Fockler, yearbook advisor; Mardel Vincent, its editor; Mr. Arthur Kenney, professional photographer, and the entire annual staff on a job well done. Golyo B. Cayton, Princtpol 5
