An ambitious Junior class, under the able direction of their class advisor, Miss Joyce Foss, has made this a very active and successful year. The first act of the class was to elect offi c e rs. A1 Cambridge proved to be an ambitious President, Carole B os ley was c hos en to assist him as Vice-President, Darlene Dechow as Secretary took the min- utes, Fred Baungartner as Treasurer kept track of the money, and Mickey Warner was elected Student Council Representative. Their first activity was a Sadie Hawkins Party on October 27, which was a howling success. Ii Around Christmas time the class sold many boxes of cards, s tatione ry , and w r apping s to supplement the Treasury. During the year the class also sold many autograph books. Nancy Kepler was their charming can- didate for Sno-Ball Queen and the Juniors made a very successful job of decorating the gym for the night. OnApril 20th, the class presented their play, the Adorable Imp, directed by Mr. Howe, which scored a big hit. The high point of the year was the Junior Prom on May 5. On May 10 they entertained the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet. 7.2 , , hi it D r Abling, Katherine ,ifi 9' ff - ,QQ Q .' The Bobcats were the only Class C team to score on Reed City and had s even of 26 points that were scored on the said team this year. Ascoring punch which was lacking in the first few games, wasfound eventually in the Farwell game, when s pe e d s te r s Elwin Knapp, and Dick Reaser along with the pile driving Fults brothers, ran up the first big Houghton Lake score. They did take s ec ond place in the North Central Conference, beating the winner Kalkaska twice. They also played a couple of close games with Harrison, the number 4 team in the state, losing by 7 and 1 points. In the District Tournament, they were upset by a spirited Roscommon team who had not won a game all season. At the entrance of the gym was a mammoth world with Marshmallow spilling down the sides. The backdrop for the Orchestra was the same Marshmallow World. Other decorations were a mock bar, individual tables, over-stuffed chairs, and pine trees with snow banks. Marvin Jenkins of Alma and his orches- tra provided the music which was high-lighted by a duet by Loa Lee Doty and Robert Weaver singing It's a Marshmallow World. HIGH CHO0L BA D 1950-'51 Under the direction of Donald Foust for the past four years, the High School Band has grown from nothing to a good well balanced concertband of 60 members. They have been quite active this year. During footb all season, they did considerable marching and d ri ll , playing and putting on a half-time show for each of the home games. Their first concert was given December 7. Then came basketball and they were on hand for eve ry game at home. At the half-time, the baton twirlers would entertain with a stunt. The tournaments also saw our band out for each game. The second concert was given in the new high school February 9. Twenty-two members of the band took part in the district contest solos and ensembles held in Oscoda March lst. Our band was among the many bands that took part in the Dis tric t Band Contest held in West Branch March 7th, An exchange of concerts is scheduled with Kalkaska this spring and the band will play for the Rural Teachers C onven ti on to be held at Houghton Lake, April 19-20. The band will attend the band festivals held at Big Rapids and Oscoda in May.
