Sf 3 l'eJlJ2l'lt 5 .!46lJl'eJ5 The concept of racial and national understanding 15 slowly yet persistantly ex cluding that of force and threat in international and domestic relations People today are becoming more aware of the xmportance of understanding for world peace and peace of mind The United Nations Organization is dedicated to the preservation of peace and interstate understanding The importance of living with others on an equal basis with a mutual respect for custom and human rights has been recognized throughout the world by leaders in international relations These leaders have indisputably accomplished much towards world harmony As future citizens responsible for ourselves as individuals for our country as a whole and for our democratic way of life we must do our utmost to propa gate the principles of understanding that are the basis for world peace As we leave our school and classmates to become active citizens of the greatest country in this Atomic Age we must continually keep these concepts upper most in our minds The future of our country and the future of the world depend on the beliefs of the American students of today. We must promote racial and national under- standing whole-heartedly if we are to make the world secure for future genera- tions, and to insure life, liberty, and world peace. 7
