George R demonstrates the value of Houghton's education courses, taught so capably by Miss Bess Fancher and Mrs. Zola Fancher. They convince the pros- pective teacher of the need for capable, we1'l- trained Christian teachers, then direct along a path which will produce precisely that type of teacher. Work in the field of sociology is particularly important in that it is designed to make this human world more intelligible. Many students, . Wells, A.B especially pre-seminarians, are realizing the im- portance of this course. ' The psychology department is one of the most popular since Mr. Nelson has introduced several new courses, which make a major in this field possible. This-year an extensive testing program was carried on by the department in cooperation with the New York State Department of Educa- tion. Dr. Gillette often astounds us by pulling a geneological table from thin air. Her emphasis on current events, as related to the particular courses, makes the classes both stimulating and practical. We need not hesi- tate to seek their counsel on evolution or atoms. Because their faith and lives are grounded in the Word of God, they are not swayed by men's theories and postulations. Dr. Moreland, head of the division, never ceases to amaze his zoology students. Possessor of a vast amount of knowledge, he has systematized his thinking so that his wealth of lecture ma- terial never seems to be exhausted.
