Cl-IRIST PREEMINENT The most important requirement for success in life is to be lined up with the will of Cod. The cardinal force of Cod's will is that Christ Jesus, who abased himself to taste death for every man, should be exalted to first place -'athat in all things he might have the preeminencei' fColossians 1:16-181. ' Too many Christians are not willing that this should be true in their lives. Yes, they avcw allegiance to Jesus. He is perhaps even prominent in their living and planning, but not preeminent. Preeminence means abdica- tion-taking the Cod-given power of choice and casting it down at Jesus' feet. Preeminence means actually dying to self and letting the Spirit of Christ occupy the Whole man-UTO know nothing save Christ and Him cru- cifiedf,-to experience 'fthe fellowship of His suffering, being made con- formable to His deathf, But only as we abdicate our own will, as we thus 'Edie the deathf' can we be sure that our central objectives are those of God himself, that our will is His. Then when we pray, it will truly be 'Gin His nameu and the Father is pledged to grant our request. The bearing of fruit begins only after the corn of wheat has died. A Cod wants not our efforts, our money, our things. He wants us-emptied of self, filled with the Holy Spirit-to will through us, to work through us fPhilippians 2:1231 , to be through us f1:21j.
