D. Nichols, T. Lazarides, S. Fergusson, R. Knowlton ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION This year the high school was represented in athletics by tfie girls as well as the boys. The girls not only resumed the basketball team after a two years, lapse, but also began a field hockey team, which shows much promise. After being thor- oughly defeated twice, the hockey team lost the last two games by only one point each. The girls showed great improvement, and next year might well put a team to challenge the best the college can offer. The girls were not quite so successful in basketball, but it must be remembered that they play comparatively better teams. Here again, a very marked improve- ment showed that better teams are coming in succeeding years. Though playing in a different league, the boys were much more successful. Though they got off to a bad start by losing two out of the first three games, they came back to win the next six and ended by tying for second place in the first round. ln the second round, a double elimination tournament, they ended in first place, with only one defeat. A playoff game with the Houseletts, winners of the first round, ended with the High School on the best end of a 33-27 score, clinching the championship of the House League. In touch football it can only be said that the boys tried and succeeded in making a touchdown, something that was not done by last yearis team. Much of the credit for our successes this year belongs to Mr. Harr, our coach. He not only showed us how to play hockey and football, but also demonstarted by his life that a real athlete can serve the God we honor. His little talk followed by our time of prayer before each game will be something each of us will keep as a treasured memory. 23
