In order to better understand it they elected officers to city, county, and state positionsp chose delegates to the county and state conventionsp and served as senators and representatives. The final day of their seven-day lesson in government took them to the state capitol, where the youth officials undertook the duties of the various offices and felt the impact of responsibility and the enorrnity of burdens they involve.
