At the roll of the drums the first Fort Smith maid for the 1960 Basketball Homecoming proceeded slowly down the length of the field house. Each girl carried an exquisite bouquet of white carnations, trimmed with either black and gold or red and white satin ribbons. Then amidst the thunderous cheers of the student body the Fort Smith and the Hot Springs Home- coming Queens were crowned. To climax the ceremony, the cheerleaders led the students in cheers in honor of the royalty. The festivi- ties were repeated in the evening.
