THE NAVY'S MISSICN The mission of the United States Navy is control of the seas, which encompass approximately seventy percent of the globe. As evidenced in World War II, the greatest threat to this control is the lethal and deadly killer of the deep-the submarine. It is vitally important in time of War that the sea lanes be kept open. Not only must our forces be able to move at Will, but also our life-line of trade With friendly nations must at all times remain intact.
