Wi ' f L -f I In as many pictures and as few Words as possible, the Class of 1946 hopes to present to you a year at Hornell High School. This has not been an ordinary year. This has been the first school year ofepeace since 1941. New scenes and faces have mingled with the old. It is these scenes that the senior class wishes to present in this- MAPLE LEAF OF 1946 HELEN HARRIS DEDICATION Some persons have a way of radiating friendliness, so that all who come in contact with even the remotest rays feel the Warmth of happiness. We have in Hornell High School such a person-Miss Helen Harris. Wherexfer We meet her, in school or out, we sense that she is on our side, although in so many words she has never told us. She nods, smiles, or calls a cheery greeting, and we know. Our days in high school have become richer as we have come to realize in her, a true friend. , To Miss Helen Harris, We of the Class of 1946 dedicate this yearbook, the record of our life in Hor- nell High School, as an acknowledgement of the part she had in making our school life seem Worthwhile. s APPRECIATION Miss SCHREI13, To you, the inspiration of this 1946 MAPLE LEAF, we wish to extends our sincerest appreciation. Through thick and thin you have carried us on toward a seemingly im- possible goal. Only through your faithful supervision is this book possible. Our contacts with you have been both prosperous and full of fun , and we hope that in years to come you will recall 1946 with one or two happy memories of us. ' THE STAFF. 1 , APPRECIATION MR. ALDERMAN, We wish to show, in some measure, our appreciation for the many things you have done for us during the past year. The Senior year is the most important of all, to stu- dents at Hornell High School, and you have helped im- measurably to make our last year memorable. XVe also wish to extend our appreciation to Mr. Wasi- cek, who served as our Junior Class advisor, and through whose efforts our Junior Year was made prosperous. Then the charter members of the society were installed in an impressive ceremony during which the light of knowledge was transmitted to each of them. The election of members was done by a Faculty Council earlier in the term. In accordance with the constitution it was possible to admit a maximum number of 30 Seniors and 10 Juniors who ranked scholastically in the upper third of their respective classes, and showed satisfactory evidence of good character, leadership qualities, and a Willingness to serve.
