Varsit Eagles During the past few months, our athletes have been involved in the great American sport of football. Some players never receive due credit for their part on the team. But true athletes are not interested in personal cre- dit, only that their team win. No player is unimportant. Each and every one has their place to fill, no one else can take your place. If we do not assume our responsibility, the team is weakened. Hard work is required to achieve a strong successful team. The greatest achievements being self-discipline and team discipline. Some players are very interested in football, some are not. Many young men who could develop into great players are not interested in the game at all. Some, probably, are not interested because of the price that has to be paid to become a good player. To the twenty-five, who were interested, there is deep satisfaction in working together to be a great team and need not be ashamed - win or lose. Everyone can usually do the big things successfully. But the champions are the ones who do the little things well. This involves a p1ayer's training program, his relationship with his family, teammates, teachers, and coaches. Basically, it involves being the right sort of person in every possible way. This makes a coach real- ize that the great opportunity to teach athletes how to live a life instead of how to make a living can never be wasted. Coach Malone WM .QW ak... :Basil M , . . ,.
