The Horn Lake area is a great piece of country, and we all should be proud of it. ' fi t . wif ffgfkilfif- 'fl . - V 'fr 35.1, . ' A was t sf., :ga X ,, quit . , ' . I study so I can go out on Friday nights. Think big and your deeds will grow. Think small and you'll fall behind. Think that you can and you will. It's all in a state of mind Beth Lane '78 Unknown 354 Study? Why study? Why indeed! When there are more fascinating things to do with your time - like going to a movie, watching Starksky and Hutch re-runs, hunting girls or guys at football games, listing the ingredients of Big Macs Cthere are sevenb, or participating in the gathering at Shakey's. And after you've done all those things you go home to relax . . . only to find unopened books staring at you. Open me or die, they cry with death being synonymous with never going out on Friday nights again or never getting Grandma's graduation gift because you'd never graduate. So, on you go to your books, first determining where you can best concentrate. In a quiet room? CNot without WHBO on the radio.b During lunch? COkay, but not on a day when hamburgers are being served. Not even graduation is more impor- tant than hamburgers.J With your boyfriend or girlfriend? fWell, you could say you were studying.J Once down to serious business of actually doing your homework, you try to decide the easiest and quickest way to get it done. The best way, of course, is to call up a friend who has already done the history assignment and just copy his or her paper. Then you coerce Mother into typing your English paper, while making necessary changes in the name of family pride. That leaves you just enough time to read The Canterbury Tales, and on a bad night when all else has failed , you actually have to do a little honest work yourself. You are able to tolerate even that until you realize that you are the pawn in a cruel plot to drive you insane. Teachers are actually trying to destroy you by getting together and planning it so that all your tests, projects, notebooks, and papers will be due on the same day of the same week. Well, you decided, you'd show them. You weren't the type to be pushed around like that. You just didn't do any of the work. So there. LEFT: Mike Fitzgerald studies alone beside a trailer. UPPER MIDDLE: A group picture of Beth Lane, Lola King, Tammy Cox, Mike Rucker, Chuck Smith, and Debbie Hatcher shows everyone studying at lunch. LOWER MIDDLE LEFT: Mark Broadway, Johnny Billings, and Pam Boling in D. O. Class. LOWER MIDDLE RIGHT: Everyone in the library is studying. RIGHT: Nancy Chrestman pauses for a break from her studies in Ameri- can Government. 23
