To Insure 'Seholastiff Tranquility Many of the colonial leaders had qualities of great leadership, outstand- ing character and the ability to make important achievements. One such person was Thomas Jefferson, an intel- lectual leader of the colonies, whose achievements included the authorship of the Declaration of Independence. Today the Beta Club of H.L.S. is very active in promoting the ideals of honesty, service, and leadership among high school students of Amer- ica. The Horn Lake Beta Club raised over S300 for the Hemophilia Drive and sponsored a float which they designed and built in the Christmas Parade. They worked the concession stand at basketball games to raise money for the State Beta Convention in February. Their plans include the for- mation of a Junior High Beta Club. 'TkmrYe- HearYeV7 The first newspapers were very important in colonial days. They pro- vided the only source of news of any kind in the colonial days. The first successful newspaper in the colonies was the BOSTON NEWSLETTER of 1704. Today our EAGLE TALK new- sapper has been very successful on the Horn Lake campus. With the '75-'76 EAGLE TALK staff working together, they changed the image of the school paper. Being smaller and less expen- sive, the newspaper was completely produced and printed on the Horn Lake campus, with the help of Mrs. Sara Shaw.
