Basketball 775-'76 Between an initial loss to North Panola and concluding loss to Oxford , the Eagles had a winning record. In games played against Desoto County revils the record was 6-2. Four of the top eight players from last year returned to the team, and the experience of the returning players led to many victories in the early part of the season. Some weaknesses developed as the season progressed . Especially evident was lack of height and inability to hit the outside shot. In every game the Eagles played against opponents who had an advantage in height, but they always provided tough competition . The Eaglettes began the season with two main goals - to improve on last year's record and to go to the state tournament. Losing four of the top seven players from last year gave the team a lack of experienced starters, and lack of speed also proved a weakness. Height, however, was a strong point of the '75-'76 Eaglettes, and they used this factor to their advantage in several games. With the season almost at an end the first goal has been accomplished - and the second is a strong possibility. Led by Coach Gaylon Baird , who was chosen Chickasaw Conference Coach of the Year, the Eaglettes have continued the winning tradition of Horn Lake basketball.
