CLASS PRoPHECY They told me I must prophesy, But I knew not what to do, For I was not born a prophet, Any more than one of you, I had spent the day in study, And in thinking hard and deep, So I now all worn and weary, Lay me down and fell asleep. I was in a mammoth cityg By the side of which I knew That New York, the nation's glory, Would stand but a feeble showy Great skyscrapers all about meg Airplanes through all the airg Wonders far beyond conception Here and there and everywhere! I could scarce believe my senses When I saw the airship line Bore the well known name of Horn Lake While the same gleamed from each signg And my eyes were opened wider Than they'd ever been before, When I saw'a slip of paper Dated l96L+. Soon I saw a lady coming near me I thought I had seen that face Somewhere else, yet could not put it In exactly its right placeg But at last she stood before me . And all wonder vanished quite 'Twas my old chum Doris Wooten And I met her with delight.

She gave me an invitation which I accepted And she took me by the hand-- Led me to a near-by roof-top' Where a sign said, WTaxi standn Down there swooped a plane before usg Taxi lady? Came the cry. ' Doris entered and I followed, And we mounted to the sky. As we flew I watched the pilot ' A damsel with a tinge of gray in her brown hair, To whom this celestial hacking Seemed an everyday affair When she turned around I knew her-- Helen Day and no other ', Handsome wide and riding high! Soon we flitted past a corner ' That looked like old times to me, For it was the well-known corner Close to where our high school used to be! Now the place was changed to show a Factory twenty stories highg And I'noticed a small fish stand There, as we were passing by. And behind the greasy counter . Stood a man and wife I knew at sightg Yes, for it was I.D. Sanders and Charlotte Ross Shouting--NFish' with all their might, I looked out at them in wonder, For whoever would have thought That those two would have got together And such a task been brought:
