Dave Farina was a member of this year ' s Horiick lootbali team. At 5 foot 10 he is not big for his position at offensive guard, but he made up for his size with hustle. Although at the beginning of the year he was not expected to start, Dave hustled his way to a first string job which he kept all season. His number 61 became a common one blocking on running plays as well as on pass protection. When we think of a football player, we think of him battling away in a game every weekend. However, the majority of Dave ' s time was spent at practice almost every night after school during the football season. Above, Dave poses on the practice field after a workout. That weekend football game is still the climax of the days of preparation. Sometimes the hours of practice go for naught as on this Friday night above where Dave (61), Jim Vojtko (25), and Rick Lee (31) look on as Horiick loses its Homecoming game to Beloit 12 — 0. But there are also happier times. At right, Dave flashes a smile after Hor- lick ' s 13 — 7 win over Madison East.
