Business Buffs here were many different kinds of groups at Horizon that were designed for the business minded student. . . DECA, one such group, was spon- sored by Mr. Cruze. They were in- volved in the canned food drive at Horizon which brought in 7500 cans. They attended the fall and winter area conferences where they won 12 medals. FBLA, another business club, was sponsored by Ms. Haas. They were involved in the Western Re- gion Fall Leadership Conference in Anahiem, California. They re- ceived first place for Battle of the States. At the winter confer- ence, held at Horizon, they re- ceived 8 awards and one chapter award. COE was sponsored by Ms. Haas. Along with the canned food drive at Christmas, they also sponsored candy sales. COE helped and participated in the FBLA Regional Conference in February. At the end of the year, they planned to hold a banquet for all the employers. The industrial ed club at Hori- zon, known as VICA , was spon- sored by Mr. Hildebrand. In addi- tion to the bagel sales held every Thursday, they supported a race car and worked as a pit crew. The clubs purpose was to promote math in high school and maybe even for a career in the math field. The requirements for the club were a B aver- age and the students had to have completed six se- mesters of high school level math.
