Z? TIMING GEAR X., wg 1-,- ' ea ex 'luui.!-F Coach Jones, R. Johnson, L. Splttel, R. Wrucke, K. Maas, D. Asmus, D. Bischoff, C. Steffen. D. Albert, R. Ulrich, I. Curry, D. Raue, D. Schmidt, Mgr. B. Hase- Only two seasoned veterans from the Q9-50 squad were on hand to greet Coach Jones as he ushered in his 27th year at the helm of the Marshmen cagers. Irv Curry and Don Albert were the two veterans around whom Coach Jones pinned his hopes as the Marshmen swung into another season. Bowing first to a strong Port Washington team M6-37 and then to a highly rated Watertown team 59-33, the Marshmen swung into Little Ten Conference play with a pleasing M3-M2 triumph over Mayville. Hartford and Oconomowoc, who finished in a tie for Conference laurels dropped Horicon in two conference battles MZ- 30 and 52-3h. Edgewood Academy of Madison, rolled over the Marshmen to an easy 6k-38 victory The Marshmen started the 1951 half of the season with their second conference win at the expense of Ripon hh-37, but a strong Waupun team then took the measure of the Marshmen 46- 36. Mayville and Horlcon, resumed their rivalry with the nod going to the Iron City men M2-37. Watertown again displayed their skill to outscore the Marshmen in a S5-28 victory. The Marshmen fell victim to an upset when the Red and White of West Bend edged them A7-MS. A stunning A3-MO overtime win over Columbus followed by another victory over Berlin 29-26 boosted the Horicon morale. The ran down the curtain on the SO-Sl season bowing to powerful Beaver Dam giving them Z wins against 6 losses in conference competition. The Marshmen jumped off to a good start in the first round of the Waupun Regional Tourney by posting a M5-hh verdict over West Bend. Advancing to the Semi-final round Horicon was defeated by the stronger Hartford quintet 56-3h. Don Albert and Irv Curry did yeomen service in holding down the guard positions plus the offensive power of sharp-shooting Don Raue were important factors in the Marshmen season. Ron Ulrich, capable reserve guard and Kenny Maas reserve center round out the quintet of Seniors who will be sadly missed next season. g'7eam Mr. Meyer in his first year at ,Q 1 Horicon H1 School coached the 58 59 Horicon nBEhSquad into a hard fighting group of boys. They started out slow but completed ing the season with 3 wins and 10 losses. With a little more experience these boys should prove valuable to the 'A' squad in years to come. Lyons, C. Bpittel, D. Johnson, D. Bushkle, D. Schultz, J. Rehse, Schmidt, Coach Meyer, M. Marks, R. Kohrt, W. Bushkie, D. Templar, larsch, L. Mellenthien, K. Beyer. Page 21 the season at a 'hot' pace finish-
