CAREERS A GLANCE AT 1942 What careers some of us want! We plan a practical career, but many of us have secret ambitions of another variety. Did you ever think you'd like to walk a tight-rope or be a test pilot? Among us are future doctors, lawyers, business men and even a professional golfer. Keep it rolling Frank! Calling Doctor Thomson. He wants to aid humanity and inci- dentally have the pretty nurses jump at his commands. Step lively Barbara Kistler in your nurse's uniform and cap. Thereis the fellow who wants to judge models-lucky guy! Need any help, Dreyfus? Chuck', Templin wants to be a vagabond and do anything except work. Watch Gordon Landeck the G man. He always gets his man! Frank Greenwald has a secret ambition-nothing less than being President some day and-be- tween times-Senator. Will you make many changes in our school system when you are superintendent, Bill? just a couple of old ruins to dig up and archaeologists Andy and Carl shine with enthusiasm. Famous lawyer outwits jury and wins sensational case-great showmanship Bill Fletcher. Take a deep, deep breath we have found the superman. No other than ,lim West. He thinks nothing of getting up at the crack of dawn. What a milkmanl lt's not blue Monday or washboard blues for Eleanor. Oh, happy the housewife who is in love. These little numbers are going places. They will keep you up in the air, too! Take it easy, Elizabeth Williams, Al, Bob, Milton and Dale! It's a lady's privilege to change her face and hair-do, so Mary you can show them how. How's the tall timber, Bob? Let it rain, jack, that's what the farm needs-plus plenty of hard work. What a builder of ships! Dick Thiel keeps an even keel. You have the stuff that talks, jean. Put your best foot forward, Kurt, and don't crack your journalistic reputation. Heaven help you if you don't keep last year's hgure, Judith. I hear the Church Around the Corner draws the crowds. Could it be because Dick Olson preaches there? All the world's a stage, says Robert Brown, and I dote on being an actor. How's the cabin far away in the north woods, Duane? I heard Clarence Daniels finally got his atom smasher working. Famous baseball player that's Ray Partee making headlines again. Scientist working alone discovers new cure and brings new hope to millions. That's the way to do it, Art Goris! Pick a winner and you find it takes nerve and more nerve plus training, talent and courage to carve a career in this war-torn, topsy-turvey world, but we know the Class of 1942 has what it takes. May we all enjoy a measure of peace and contentment whatever the future does to our pet ambitions. Page ni
