Hobby Poll Using the high school students as their guinea pigs. the annual staff conducted a hobby poll in Ovtoher to uncover that deep and dark sr-rret of what the Horace Mann students find to do in their spare time. Sometimes we really do get spare time. you know. in spite of all the howl we put up about homework. Now stop to think! Dig down into your memory and try remembering if you were one of those 1000 guinea pigs of ours. If we listed them all for you. we'd probably keep right on to page one-hundred-and-five. There are lots of interesting hobbies in this left-oyer group. and wt-'rv sure you'd be happy to hear about some of the more unusual ones. The-sv range all tln- way from volb-rling pirtures of ldlapper Fanny. to rollerting war maps: from rollerting soap from hotels. to building tnatr'hsIir'k houses: and front eollerting foreign knixes and daggers. to writing poetry. Now what do you suppose we found leading the field in this rliet-It-up on hobbies? You guessed it -collecting. Our H.M. students go for it in a big way. and really have stllllt' wortlmhile. its well as amusing. 1-olleetions. These. too. are many and varied. and include suv-h items as lapelettes. pipes. foreign dolls. antiques ot' all siZt's and desvriptions. autograph lof courset. and mementos of all sorts. Now don't let their stern 4-lass-room manners fool you-the faeulty really have their fun, too. We found out all manner of intriguing items when we chef-ked upon their hobbies. When Miss lVIeW'illiam's plants do not require too murh ot' her time. she rollevts tof all things! match-boxes. And, wouldttil you know it. Mrs. McClain spends her free time both in rollerting and luaking her own prints. engravings., and paintings. WW? found that its his first and most-important revreation Mr. Cunningham lists travel-probably as far away from the Horace Mann halls as possible. w e bet- out where thert-'s plenty of room and lots of breathing spave. Mr. Lutz likes nothing better than to go fishing.
