TO THE READERS OF THE HORACE MANUAL Genuine courtesy is an expression of sound character. lt is easy for the Person who is really kindly to be courteous to others. Kindliness is based on understanding - the ability to put yourself in the other feIlow's place. The ability to understand others and get their view-point can be developed in yourself. You can grow in this knowledge as you can grow in any- thing else. To be described as courteous-good mannered-cultured and considerate may make one feel justly proud. Develop then an attitude of kindliness and understanding and the essence of courtesy with all of its contributions to success and happiness are yours. CHARLES D. LUTZ
