As eighth graders we founded the junior High General Organization with Sandy Cameron, President, Gordon Stern, Vice President, Bobbie Scott, Secretary, and Doug Cameron, Treasurer. The First Annual Carousel, another product of our eighth grade efforts, turned out to be a huge success, financially and otherwise. Eighth grade was the year for parties . . . September, 1955, we began our first year of high school, electing Bart, Will, Penny, and Stevie. Swish, a basketball dance was our first high school project. It was a great . . . well, it was fun anyway. In March, we gave our Second Annual Carousel, which put our treasury ahead of the G.O.'s. With our sophomore year came double sessions and those wonderful free afternoons. Doug, Bart, Penny, and Stevie were our officers. The money-making project was our football dance, Lucky, With the end of our soph year came the end to eating lunches overtown and the last of the old Horace Greeley . . . Under the leadership of Danny, Mike, Betsy, and Skip, we began our junior year in the new school of gravel walks, glass and chilly breezeways . . . some of us are still adjusting! Betsy was our Miss Greeley. Will anyone ever forget the Katonah Conference and all that SNOW!! By Christmas time almost all had their licenses and were taking full advantage of them. At the G.O. Formal, Skip and Diana were crowned Snow King and Queen. In selling tickets for Fun Storm, we broke all sorts of records and raised enough money to send Bibi and Chris to Europe. Easter Vacation just about everyone was busy working on our musical, Rough 'n' Ready, starring Sandy, Bibi, Chris, and Danny. Under the patient direction of jimmy Leyden and Lee Benjamin, we had the time of our lives and gave them a darn good show, followed by a great cast party at the Italian American Club. No sooner had we finished the musical than we went to work on our junior Prom, Twilight Time. Sandy was Prom Queen, with Sylvia, jane, Betsy, and Judy her attendants. The year more or less wound up with the vigorous and close G.O. campaign won by john, Bart, Betsy, and Ken. Now . . . at last . . . we're Seniors! With Bruce, jim, Sue, and Billy as our officers, the lounge is ours! We have a very welcome addition in Anna, our AFS student from Sweden. The first big event of the year was the party given by Bruce and Danny at Brooks. As seniors we have taken our place as leaders: Skip and Will, football captains, Betsy, cheering captain, Charlie, heading the newly fonned judiciary Committee replacing the old Committee of XII, Skip, Service Club President, Barbara Sillcocks and Penny Schott, Greeley Trib editors, Bibi, yearbook editor, Doug, basketball captain. Greeley is again, after a two year lapse, honored with a member of the All-County Football Team, Will. Our Senior Play, Skin of Our Teeth, starring Bibi and jon was held in November, followed by a cast party in the cafeteria. The Senior Week-end was a huge success with the faculty-senior basketball game, carnival, the dance Mardi Gras and the senior party on Sunday. Now we are looking forward to graduation . . . As our high school days are ending, we realize what a wonderful four years we have had and hope that succeeding classes will have the same wonderful experience. Cheerleading pro- vides the necessary link between spectators and players. A cheerleader must set standards of conduct and behavior, be an example of these standards, and at all times serve as a good and enthusiastic representative of her school. Although our teams were not always winning, this year's cheerleaders have raised an all time high level of school spirit and enthusiasm on the part of the community and the student body. The girls try out each year and are chosen on the basis of personal qualifi- cations as well as knowledge of the written rules of various sports. The members referee senior high intramurals, take care of equipment, help administer practical tests, choose intramural teams, run play days, and entertain visiting schools. Under Captain Lucinda Wells and Co-Captain Sue Kellogg, the Leader Corps helped a great deal to keep up the high standards of the physical education department.
