New oflicers are chosen to guide the ever-chang- ing student bodies, new athletic teams take to the fields and basketball courts, new teachers, as well as new class- es, come and go. Downtown, new businesses open and new professional men take the places of those well- known Hoquiamites who retire or move away. New buildings go up, new houses appear on the once barren hilltops. And, as in too many other years, a new war has claimed many of Hoquiam's young lives. But there are things that will never change: things that grow greater and stronger with every passing year. Among those which have stood the test of time is the spirit of Hoquiam High: that spirit which has grown out of the traditions which have been passed down from class to class. Now, we, the Class of Fifty-one, must en- trust those traditions to you who follow us, as those be- fore us have done in years gone by. We know they will be in safe hands. We are certain that the people of Ho- quiam will continue their loyal support of that school which has so recently become our Alma Mater. As our last major undertaking, we leave the 1951 edition of the Hesperian to mirror, in part at least, the Grizrly Spiril. Shutter-bugs in Photography. Shirley Johnson files an UA.
