(Ji 7 fe- w 4 l.l. Scotl Shepard relieved LCDR. Schlise as Combat Systems Officer in |uly2000 LCDR Schlise Combat Systems Officer March 1996 -July 2000 Lieutenant Commander Paul J. Schlise was born September 25, 1966. in Sturgeon Bay. WI. He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following commissioning through Marquettes NROTC program and an initial assignment as Sail Training Officer aboard Marquette NROTCs yacht WARRIOR. Lieu- tenant Commander Schlise completed the Division Officer Course at Surface Warfare Officers School, Coronado, CA. He then reported to USS FLINT (AE-32) in concord, CA. In three years aboard FLINT, he served as Auxiliaries Elec- trical Officer, First RAS Division Officer and Navigator Administrative Officer. During his tour, FLINT made three Western Pacific Arabian Gulf deployments including two in support of Operation DESERT SHIELD STORM, and a third supporting ordinance redistribution efforts associated with the closure of U.S. Naval Magazine, Subic Bay, Phil- ippines. In July 1993. Lieutenant Commander Schlise com- pleted the AEGIS training pipeline and reported to USS ANTIETAM (CG-54) in Long Beach. CA. He served one year as Fire Control Officer in ANTIETAM, completing a Western Pacific Arabian Gulf deployment with the USS CARL VINSON Battlegroup. He then assumed duties as Overhaul Coordinator for ANTIETAMs 10-month, $52 mil- lion Regular Overhaul at Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Following completion of the Department Head course at Surface Warfare Officers School, Newport. RI, and the Track II AEGIS training pipeline, he reported to precommissioning Unit HOPPER in Bath, ME, in March 1996. He served as commissioning Weapons Officer in HOP PER prior to fleeting up to Combat Systems Officer in De- cember 1997. He accompanied HOPPER to her new homeport in Pearl Harbor, HI, and made HOPPERs maiden deployment to the Western Pacific Arabian Gulf, which included participation in Operation DESERT FOX Toma- hawk strikes against Iraq. He completed his tour in HOP PER in July 2900. during her second Western Pacific Ara- bian Gulf deployment, supporting Operation SOUTHERN WATCH and Maritime Interception Operations enforcing UN sanctions against Iraq. His next assignment is with the Surface Warfare Directorate on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations (N86). Washington DC. Lieutenant Commander Schlises awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (with two gold stars). Navy Achievement Medal (with two gold stars) and various unit and campaign awards. Lieutenant Commander Schlise counts numerous sports and outdoor, u tivitiesas bobbies, including golf, fish- ing, i amping, biking, running, sailing and Green Baj Pai le- ers football. 1 le is married to the former Krystee Noel Kotl ol Schaumburg, II.. 18

Lt. Scott Shepard Weapons Officer November 1998 - July 2000 Lt. Gregory A. Norfleet Weapons Officer July 2000 Lt Scott Shepard was born in Woodbury. NJ on June 1, 1969. He grew up in Beltsville, MD and attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. MD, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. LT Shepards first at sea assignment was to USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55). homeported in Mayport, FL. He served as Electrical Officer and Strike War- fare Officer from January 1992 to December 1994. completing two deployments, one to the Mediterranean and one to the Arabian Gulf. Upon completion of this tour, LT Shepard re- ported as Aide to R ADM Olson at the Board of Inspection and Survey in Norfolk, VA. It was during this tour that LT Shepard married the former Miss Julie Ann Cullin of Butler, PA. In June 1996, LT and Mrs. Shepard transferred to the Naval Post- graduate School in Monterey. CA, where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security Affairs with an emphasis in Latin America. After Monterey, LT and Mrs. Shepard moved to Newport. Rhode Island for Surface Warfare Officer Depart- ment Head School. Upon graduation from Department Head School and follow-on schooling, LT Shepard reported to USS HOPPER (DDG 70) as Weapons Officer during the ships maiden deployment to the Arabian Gulf in November. 1998. He as- sumed duties as Combat Systems Officer in July 2000. LT and Mrs. Shepard currently live in military housing in Ewa Beach with their daughter, Sophia Ann. LT Gregory A. Norfleet grew up in suburban Port Chester. New York, until he joined the Navy in 1977. Completed the compensatory training pipeline and reported aboard USS En- gland in the Spring of 1979 as FTM3. completing is sea tour as a first class in 1983. reported as a Naval instructor to Damneck. Virginia and upon terminating his shore assignment in 1987 he was promoted to Chief Fire Controlman. While ashore he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Admin- istration and Management at ST Leo University. During his sea tours he has served on USS England CG-22. USS Luce DDG- 38, USS Dahlgren DDG 43. In 1991. during his tour in Dahlgren, he applied and was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer. Upon commissioning he was selected as the Pre-Commission- ing System Test Officer in Lake Erie CG-70. Selected as an LDO in 1995 he was promoted to LTjg and transferred to USS Normandy CG-60. Serving as the Combat System material of- ficer during a 9-month overhaul he coordinated the combat system baseline removal and upgrade. He has served as STO. FCO. SMO Gunnery Officer. EMO. com- mand DAPA. Command Physical fitness coordinator. Training Officer. Naval instructor. Radar technician, computer techni- cian, and various collateral duties. In the winter of 1997 he completed his thesis and was awarded summa cum laude. an MBA in Business Administration and Management from Strayer University. He is married and a father of two. His hobbies include scuba diving, kite flving and travel. 19
