UNothing ventured, nothing gained.H The name of our Spanish Club is HLos Amigosn, Friends. The purpose of the club is to get more practice in use of the Spanish language and to becomes more familiar with Spanish American people and customs. We tru to accomplish this through games, songs, poems, interesting stories and articles about our Hgood neighborsn. Part of each program is conducted in Spanish, so that we may become more accustomed to the language. We realize that a great part of our own country's heritage came from Spanish peoples, and in understand- ing them we may understand our own history better. Also, if the peoples of the Americas are to work out a program of peace, security and mutual helpfulness the basis of such work must be faith in each other and an understanding of what each country has to give and what it needs. The Bengals played seven conference games and were victors in five. This record ranked them in second place in the W.K.C. Because of their outstanding characteristics, many highly reputed foes could not tread upon the Tiger goal and everyone acknowledged the potentiality of the UHoptownH team. Last year marked the introduction of a new member to the coaching staff of the Tigers, william Lee Gresham an alumnus of H. H. S. and Centre College. Mr. Gresh- am returned to his alma mater to assist Coach Ralph Mills. 1 S C O R E S y Bowling Green Hopkinsville Russellville Hopkinsville Henderson Hopkinsville Clarksville Hopkinsville Owensboro Hopkinsville Mayfield Hopkinsville Male Hopkinsville Jackson Hopkinsville Murray Hopkinsville Paducah Hopkinsville Madisonville Hopkinsville . 4.4, :ails-yr' , g ' ' 19 1 lik , .,,'1!5s . ,4 A, .,:aaw..,, . H. S. Band attended a summer camp for one week at Boy Scout Camp, just before school started this year. The pro- gram included rigid marching and playing practices with recreation of all kinds. This was made possible by the newly organized, HBand Mothers Clubn and the splendid cooperation of the members with Mr. Vance who really made the camp possible. Our band made its first appearance at the Bow- ling Green game. They presented HDrum Major's Dilemman at half time with the help of Faxon Payne and the new Drum Major, Kenneth Lile. Probably the most colorful and talked about ex- hibition of the year was the Circus imitation that our band presented at Clarksville and at home for the Owensboro game. Some of the outstanding features were the tumbling act and the prancing horse, impersonated by two of the majorettes. We left the field playing Ringling Bros. Grand Finale amid applause and cheers. The main feature of the Male band's performance on October 25th was their formation of a tulip and a rose in many colored lights. The spectators enjoyed them as much as they did the game and we were very happy to have them. ' November l, we took a trip to Jackson, Tennessee, only to sit in the rain all during the game. The Tigers, cheerleaders and the band were entertained by Jackson High School with a dance in their gymnasium. Following this, we spent the night at the New Southern Hotel. After a colorful exhibition by the accomplished Paducah Band on November l5th, the Hoptown Band did a precision drill that showed how hard they had been working all season. Thanksgiving Day we put on a revue in Madisonville of the whole season's performan- ces. Members of H. H. S. Band attended the Music Festival at Owensboro on April l and 2 with many individual members taking solos and taking part in ensembles. '4--f 1- x A a .
