HENRY K. JARRETT. PAULINE PETRIE. H. C. D. C., 111, 121, 1313 D. L. S. 1415 H. H. S. A. A.: Football 1213 Annual staffg Schoolmistlress. His eyes are with his heart and that is far away- Should a hzstile army ever attempt to invade our country we should never fear as long as we have our Stand- ing Army within our midst. Besides his military skill, H. K. has displayed his ability as an orator and his other- wise brilliant career as a football player was cut shcrt at the beginning of the 1913 season by an injury to his arm. He is one of the best fellows in school and has the rare ability of making friends that are loyal and true. H. H. S. A. A. Secretary 1413 E. L. S. Secretary 131. So sweet the blush of bashfulnessu Pauline left heir native town of Fairview and entered our class dur- ing our Junior year. It is not strange how so blond a person as she could come from Fairview, Since her ar- rival she has received numerous little bouquets of flowers and other trivial presents from her classmates. But she has a tendency to be slightly bashful and her timidity has been re- greted. Pauline's main trouble is Germetry and it is that everlasting Geometry which gives heir so much trouble. She is a' constant worker, however, and beside school work, she has friends wha are true and loyal. gl .ANDREW QUARLES. H. C. D. S. 1313 D. L. S. 141 The happiest is he who from public rage, Drinks the pure pleasure of the rural life ' Andrew started collecting knowl- edge at McLean College, but after that institution closed its doors, he cast his lot with us during our Junior year. Since his entrance he has always been a welcomed member. Andrew's favorite study is Latin and he de- lights in startling the teachers by his translations. His favorite song is This is the Life, and he will proba- bly take agriculture as his chosen profession. We predict a successful future for him and hope that fortune may follow him.

Flossie forsook his Gracey peo- ple a couple of years ago and entered H. H. S. At that time his main trou. ble was with the girls. Even the sight of a girl pained him and he studied seven nights in the week for fear of seeing one. But that was two long years ago. You should see him now. He is the worst ladies man in the school, actually he fell down one day while walking down the street talking to a certain one. Guess who! Omitting girls, 'Flossie likes baseball the best and is a regular 'tTy Cobb on the bases. We will see more of him later along this spring. Clif-rus class. Love's gentle spring does ever fresh remain. When a certain young man grad- uated from this High School two years ago and later went to College, this fair maiden was not over pleased. 1That is putting her sentiments in a rather mild fc-rm, too5. But the ter- rible agony did not last long and now both are happy. But why dwell on such frivolous thoughts. Lucile is one of the bright- est girls in the class. She can al- ways be depended upon to have her lessons well prepared. Still she be- lieves in that good old saying, Let George do it. H. C. D. S. 115,125, 1355 C. L, S, 1433 H. H. S. A. A.g Baseball 135, 145g Baseball 135, 145 l doubt the wisdom of being too wise. We all like US. His smiling coun- tenance radiates his happy emotions everywhere and at all times. He has a reputation for his baseball playing but he shines his brightest at basket- ball- Here he only Hives the ball a toss and it invariably goes into the basket. No one knows where he learned h0W- Some say it is luck but he vows it is science and after Seeing him perform, one could Well believe him. He is a hard worker and will leave a hard place to fill in the High School.

'PANDY WAULINGTON. HAR.RIE'l'T MAJOR. HENRY J. STITES. H. C. D. S. 131g C. L. S. President 1413 Schoolmistress 143. I may be little, but l'm loud. Tandy is the smallest boy in the Senior class. .Just to look at him you would wonder how such a, small per- son could be going to graduate in June. But one has to know him to learn the amount of gray matter he has stored away. For he is a very studious lad and stands high in all his classes. If you should ever be hailed by some one with a voice that sounds like it is coming thru a mega- phone, think of this youth for he has same voice. Tandy likes to play Tennis too, and he spends not a lit- tle of his time at that game. E. L. S. Secretary 125. 'iLife is short and so am I. This little brown eyed country maiden has a liirm dislike for all lan- guages ancient and modern. She pro- gresses favorably in the grammatical part, but when it comes to the speak- ing of the words she gets her tongue tied in a way that is worse than ridic- ulous. But do not think that she can- not spea,k English well, for she has her own opinion about things and does not object to expressing it at times. Then she has the most convincing manner of talking. No one could listen to her without being fully con- vinced tliat she is right. Having these qualities a person could not help hav- ing friends, and Harriett has some mighty true ones. H- C. D. S. ill, i2l, 1351 D. L. S. 143. Alas, the love of woman! It is known to be a lovely and a fearful thing. Henirich has always had the am- bition to be a lVl. D. The University of Louisville has a splendid medical department and graduates of the Male High School of that city may enter without examination. So he left ug this spring and took up his abode with the Purple and Gold. While here, Heinrich always had at tender feeling for the faculty. Wgpee- ially during this last year. Henry gained quite a reputation for making mission furniture and is adept at an kinds of handicraft.
