The choir which was directed by Mr Gears, and the orchestra conducted by Mr. Brunzell completed the Hopkins' musical family. The choir had a combined force of 155 voices the varsity choir and the sophomore choir Creativity was the keyword of the art department this year, and in order to insure that students would have a free, creative atmosphere the Hopkins art department had to turn away students for the first time in its history In spite of this inconvenience. HHS sculptors and artists continued to decorate the halls and foyer with colorful work, some of which was selected by the art faculty for permanent display at Hopkins. They performed at such functions as Christmas concerts at Soulhdale and the North Star Center.
