MR MILTON OJALA MODULAR PROGRAM OIRECTOR. WARRIORS ANTICIPATE FLEXIBLE PROGRAM THE SPIRIT OF '67 was the spirit of change. And the changes at Hopkins wore most dramatized by the new Modular Scheduling Program Though the program was not actually implemented until the fall of 1967. the anticipation of flexible scheduling generated a noticeable optimism amoung students. The primary objective of the new system, according to director Milton Ojala, is to improve the teaching learning process Modular scheduling balances group education with individual education It balances scheduled class timo with supervised independent time The size and length of a class are not arbitrarily set. but are determined by the type of activity planned for it The emphasis is student responsibility. making the Spirit of '67 the spirit of responsibility DEPARTMENT HEADS FEEL THE WEIGHT OF THEIR DECISIONS. Secretary MR DENNIS ROOF ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF HOPKINS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL POLICY SET BY DISTRICT OFFICES ULTIMATELY. THE PROBLEM OF DECIDING the best possible Spirit of 67 is left to the members of the Hopkins School Board. These people work diligently through the year to determine the policies, curriculum and budget for District 274 Mr John Young, head of the Business Department and in charge of maintenance, processes bills and orders materials for the district Also working m the District Office is Mr Edstrom. Director of Secondary Education and responsible for the Junior Highs and Senior High While the District Office directs the path of the school year, the problem of carrying out these objectives is left to the administration Assistant Principals Mr Roof and Mr Schultz, with the members of the Principal s Office, schedule student programs and enforce the programs of HHS it

SPECIALISTS SERVICE FURNACES AND FILMS HOW MANY HOPKINS STUDENTS have stopped to think about the many, important services that made up a part ol every school day? Each day the cooks faced over 2000 starving, thankless students armed only with their spatulas and the food they had prepared The custodians cleaned up the halls after school and the gym after games The nurse protected us with vaccinations and offered us a soft bed on which we could rest our weary bones and avoid a test Special Education offered assistance to selected students The Audio Visual department made it possible for education throughout the District to be enriched by the use of projected material CUSTODIANS LOVINGLY PROVIDE THE PATCH FOR A NEWLY 8ROKEN PANE. 13
