SENIOR DUANE VOCA FIGHTS THE ELEMENTS TO STUDY BIOLOGY IN DEPTH. SKULL SPECIAUST ELLEN JORDANO EXAMINES A HANDSOME HEADBONE AS PART OF HER BIOLOGY UNIT. OF BUGS AND BOMBS AND PHYSICS BOOKS TO OBSERVE AND INTERPRET was the goal of the nine hundred and fifty students involved in this year's science program. The fundamentals of precipitation, acids and bases, moleculor structure, and oxidation and reduction reactions were taught to those involved in CHEM study. A similarly inductive approach was followed in the studies of radiation, light, sound, and motion pursued in the physics classes. Not to be overlooked are the studies of genetics, botony, entomology, and plant and animal classifications studied in the biology classes. In order to provide additional instruction for more advanced students, the biology deportment offered a new course in physiology and anatomy, and the chemistry department continued last year's science seminar program. A new instructor, Miss Kathy Dahlquist, was added to the staff, and several guest speakers were invited to address the classes on subjects such os gloss blowing, public health, first aid, and water safety. In addition, several authorities spoke to after school assemblies of interested students on topics like biochemistry, the laser, and the implications of satellites. 25
