TRAINING, STRAINING FOR BUILDING BODIES I RAINING to become physically fit, all Hopkins Sophomores and over J50 upperclassmen trained for the Minnesota Physical Efficiency Test, to which they were subjected twice during the year. Because of the rugged training, the Hopkins results were above the national average. Not only were the physical education students trained in calesthentics, but they were also taught the fundamentals of such sports os soccer, field hockey, swimming, volleyball, wrestling and tennis. After the students thoroughly understood all the rules of the sport, they participated in games, skill contests and tournaments within their individual classes. The goal of the physical education department at Hopkins was to improve the student's well-being and to help him develop his muscles and coordination. LIBRARY SERVICE IS CORE OF THE SCHOOL eDUCATIONAL LEADERS have stressed the school library as one of the basic requirements for quality education. The boundaries of today's increasingly vast scope of knowledge have been extended beyond the classroom through the school library. The library hos also strived to provide the means to meet and stimulate the many interests, appreciations, and curiosities of youth. The senior high library collection has been divided between two libraries. The main library contained books especially useful in the fields of English, social studies, and recreational reading. All magazines and pamphlets, as well as books in the oreos of math, science, foreign languages and occupations were in the Resource Library. Both libraries had quite complete collections of reference books, encyclopedias and dictionaries. MRS. EUSABETH STENBACK, Li- brorion . . MISS GLADYS H. LARSON, librarian. MRS.
