MRS. DOROTHY PHELPS. Art I. II. III. Art Club . . . MR. JOHN PREU-WITZ. Art I. II. Ill, War-r'tor Co-ordinator. TEMPRA AND TOIL The Art Department at Hopkins had one purpose: to stimulate individual creativity in students. This purpose was approached in two different ways by each of our art teachers. Mrs. Phelps' classes studied art through specific but varied assignments. On the other hand. Mr. Prel'wih' students followed a spontaneous approach to art as they created individual art projects. Field trips to Walker Art Center and The Minneapolis Institute of Arts have been a worthwhile part of art education. 24
